The Monitor reports a stolen Land Rover in Freeville, though it was stopped by a state trooper and its passengers ran off. A stolen laptop and bank papers were inside the car. A Dryden man was also arrested for marijuana possession at Pyramid Mall.

The Tompkins County SPCA will be having a Dog Walk-a-thon on Saturday, May 7th, to raise funds for pets staying at the SPCA.
There's a letter from Ithaca High School student Cory Serviente of Freeville, arguing in favor of elementary school redistricting because:
"It is time to force people out of their comfort zones by providing children with the opportunity to actually spend time with children who may be a bit different from them. In order to breed better citizens for tomorrow, we have to start on them today."
The Journal's editorial strongly encourages residents to get involved with school elections, noting that in addition to their tremendous responsibilities, the local school budgets total $176 million, dwarfing the County's $63 million.
