Today's Ithaca Journal provides an update on plans for the trail from the Village of Dryden to Freeville. Environmental Planner Debbie Gross talks about hiring a contractor and the early planning. Trail landowner Warren Van Pelt talks about his concerns, and contractor Rick Manning talks about the engineering challenges involved and the possibility of interpretive signs.
To the west of Dryden, there were two accidents within an hour at the intersections of Route 13 and Warren Road and Route 13 and Brown Road. There were no fatalities, but one victim from the Brown Road accident was taken to Cayuga Medical Center.
The Journal's editorial complains about the apprenticeship program the county legislature now requires contractors to support on projects of $1 million or more.
