Civil War postmark July 24th

I'm glad that we remember on this 150th anniversary:

The Dryden Post Office, in conjunction with the Dryden Lake Festival, will host a Civil War commemorative pictorial postmark on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 from 8:30 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4:30 pm.

A Pictorial Postmark features words and graphics related to an event; in this case, the Civil War. A special design was created and approved by the US Post Office. This design will be applied, using a hand cancelling device, to any envelope or post card with first class postage. More importantly, the commemoration will feature Civil War soldiers who served with the 76th Regiment NY Infantry. This infantry was formed in Cortland County and drew soldiers, not only from Dryden, but from surrounding towns. The 76th Regiment was the first on the battlefield July 1, 1863; the first day of battle in Gettysburg. On May 23, 2013, the US Post Office released its two new Civil War Commemorative Forever Stamps depicting to significant battles of the War Between the States; Gettysburg and Vicksburg.
