Another trail repair day next Sunday

After the success of last year's trail repair day and party, Ann Leonard is hosting another repair day at Hammond Hill State Park:

Hammond Hill Trails Fix Up Day and After Work Dish to Pass Lunch

There will be trail work party/pot luck lunch on Sunday October 30. We will meet at Ann Leonard's house (46 Hammond Hill (map) ... driveway on the left before you get to the municipal parking lot at the top of the hill) at 8:30am. You can drop off your lunch dish to pass, and head out from there to fix up Hammond Hill trails in preparation for winter. There is lots to do! The recent high winds have dropped a number of trees across the trails all over the hill, and there is one especially large snarl to clear away on a backcountry loop. Also, if enough people express interest in coming, Ann will order a load of gravel and a culvert to fix a short section of trail that crosses her property. (a short steep hill that was eroded badly in April's deluge)

Parking will be at Ann's house or if you prefer you can park at the parking lot and walk over. There will be a brief meeting at 8:30 to discuss what needs doing where, sign the Friends Of Hammond Hill DEC work crew list and then we will split into multiple work crews. If you arrive late, there will be a map and directions where to find those work crews that could use your help the most.

It would be most helpful if you email Ann an RSVP of your intentions to assist so she can determine if there will be enough help to make it worth ordering the culvert and gravel. redflea210@frontiernet.net or 844-8706. Best to use email if you can.

Tools to bring: saws, axes, loppers, shovels, hoes, rock rakes, maybe one more chain saw with practiced operator. (Jack Rueckheim and Mike Ludgate are bringing theirs) Check with Jack, Mike or Ann re chain saw!

Please feel free to invite your friends =)
See you there!
