Dryden registrations

Yes, it was mostly a bad night for Democratic candidates below the state level last night. Congressman Arcuri lost, as did Sheriff Meskill, though Assemblywoman Lifton won.

I'll be writing more about all of that, in a Dryden context, but here's a background piece for that, voter registration in Dryden:

PartyNumber (Sept 2008)Number (Oct 2010)Change
Blank (Independent)17351795+60
Conservative6366+3
Democratic31063345+239
Green7461-13
Independence328403+75
Liberal4335-8
Libertarian41-3
Other517+12
Republican26822617-65
Right-to-Life1615-1
Working Families3630-6
Total80928385+263

I wish I'd updated the 2008 data for the last few weeks of registrations in the presidential race, as I suspect that a lot of those gains and losses happened then.

If I compare that to May 2004, the earliest data I have, the shift toward Democratic registration is even clearer.

PartyNumber (May 2004)Number (Oct 2010)Change

How this all played out in Dryden will take a few more articles.
